When A+E Networks began transitioning a significant portion of its deep library of cable hits to emerging streaming platforms, they required a partner who could translate decades of brand equity into modern, high-impact digital assets. We developed a focused suite of tile art for marquee titles across A&E, History, and Lifetime, ensuring that legacy favorites felt as fresh and clickable as current digital-first premieres.
CHALLENGE
A+E needed to migrate a large volume of library titles to streaming environments in a condensed timeframe. Many of these programs carried older, cable-optimized artwork that didn’t meet the technical or aesthetic requirements of modern, grid-based streaming interfaces.
INSIGHT
In a streaming environment, the tile art is the make-or-break moment for discovery. To stand out among thousands of choices, library content needs to do three things simultaneously: establish a distinct mood, clearly communicate its genre, and project a level of visual quality that competes with big-budget “Originals.”
APPROACH
Because these were legacy titles, we often lacked high-quality original photography or existing assets.
To bridge this gap, our team “made magic” through complex compositing, blending diverse stock photography into seamless, cinematic environments that felt native to each show. When traditional imagery fell short, we created custom illustrations and stylized treatments to capture the essence of the narrative. By pairing these bespoke visuals with bold, high-contrast title treatments, we established a visual shorthand that allowed viewers to understand the series’ value proposition in a split second.
